Commercial Mold Remediation

While indoor air pollution in the home from black mold and mildew may usually occur after a flood or plumbing leak, larger buildings tend to acquire their toxicity over time from a variety of sources. Unlike the home, in a large structure or apartment building there could be miles of ductwork, breezeways and plumbing areas where mold can grow undisturbed over time until it becomes a health issue to the hundreds of people who work, live or go to school in the affected area. Besides the extreme health issues to the occupants, there is the huge loss of work and school days as a result of a “sick building.” This is in addition to the sickness amongst custodial and security staffing as well as frequent visitors.

To combat this contamination Canada Wide Group first performs an exhaustive series of inspections to pinpoint the source or sources of moisture. Following guidelines set out by Health Canada and other agencies our team of commercial construction experts will then stop the entryways of the water, whether it be from the roof, windows, cracks in the concrete or other areas. During our investigation we will test the complete HVAC and check all rooms that use water or where water pipes are adjacent. Our advanced techniques will leave no area unchecked.

After our detailed inspection report has been completed our mold remediation teams go to work. Beginning with the worst areas the entire affected is contained with barriers so that disturbed mold spores will not escape to other, uncontaminated areas. Next, any affected drywall, paper, wood or other contaminated products that cannot be cleaned will be taken out and the remaining mold is scrubbed from beams, pipes and other non-porous materials. After that the area will be chemically cleaned, dried and new components installed by our construction teams. Special HVAC mold remediation teams are designated to clean the ductwork and mechanical operations.
